Apple’s Not-So-Secret “iTV”

My favourite Cupertino Fruit Company has a reputation of secrecy when it comes to new products and their development.

After all, this is the company that had a complete department secretly working on making Mac OS X run natively on Intel chips since 2001! And not a single peep or leak in all those years.

So it’s rather surprising to see Steve deliberately leak these photos of Apple’s multimedia TV device, now still codenamed “iTV”.

It mimicks the Mac Mini’s aluminium enclosure and sports a similar footprint, while being about half the height.

Boasting a slew of connectors, from the computer-centric USB, ethernet, and 802.11 to yester-year’s RCA video connectors and today’s more advanced HDMI and optical audio, Jobs & Co. are putting every television in your household in Apple’s cross-hairs.

I for one, can’t wait to see what this little beastie can do when it’s released in 2007. 🙂
